Graveyard Keeper 2 Faith and Inspirations — What to Spend It On

Where does Faith come from in Graveyard Keeper 2?

Faith has exactly one source: the sermon you hold in the church on Wrath, the sixth day of the six-day week. Sermons run once per week, so missing Wrath costs a full week of income. Nothing else in the game generates Faith.

Each sermon converts attendance into Faith at the prayer’s own rate. Basic Prayer I pays 0.25 Faith per person before the success bonus, so a 20-person sermon lands on 11 Faith once the bonus is included. The mechanics are in Church and Sermons.

Because that source is weekly, Faith works as a budget rather than a faucet. A sermon’s Faith scales with the crowd, so raising Gratitude and church quality is the only way to make the weekly trickle larger. Every sink below competes for the same income, and a missed week is unrecoverable.

What should you spend Faith on first?

Priority goes to one-time unlocks that keep paying: Milestones first, then the Inspiration claims that gate your perk trees, then quest costs such as Herbert’s 3 Faith. Zombie collars come last, because they only speed up automation you have already built.

Herbert’s Fighting Spirit Required is the easiest cost to forget and it blocks the Barracks line, so set those 3 Faith aside before claiming Inspirations. Zombie collars are the only repeatable sink: every resurrected zombie needs a collar whose tier matches its red skull count.

Faith sink Cost What it gets you
Fast-travel Milestones 1–8 Faith each; the 7 paid Milestones total 23 Faith Permanent one-time unlock; travel afterwards is free and instant
Building Inspirations 551 Faith to claim every level Inspiration bar segments and perk points
Smithing Inspirations 1,728 Faith The same, for the Smithing colour
Farming Inspirations 254 Faith The same, for the Farming colour
Book writing Inspirations 570 Faith The same, for the Book writing colour
Anatomy Inspirations 1,232 Faith The same, for the Anatomy colour
Bronze Zombie Collar 3 Faith Collar made at the Jewelry Table for resurrection
Golden Zombie Collar 5 Faith Mid-tier collar
Steel Zombie Collar 10 Faith Top-tier collar
Herbert’s Fighting Spirit Required 3 Faith, consumed Opens the Barracks
Hypno-device charge 1 Faith Recharging the device
Tech tree nodes Nothing — Faith cannot buy them Research runs on red, green and blue points only

The Inspiration figures are the total Faith for claiming every level in that colour, not the price of one entry, and 52 of the 71 Inspirations have a free level I claim.

How much Faith do fast-travel Milestones cost?

There are 11 Milestones on the map and 7 of them charge Faith, for 23 Faith in total. The other 4 are free. You pay once at the stone itself, and afterwards travel between any two unlocked Milestones is free, instant, and takes logs, corpses and zombies along with you.

Milestone Faith to activate
Crossroads 1
Graveyard 1
Village 2
Vineyard 2
Port Area 3
Quarry 6
Swamp 8
Inquisition Base, Stilt Houses, Sluice Area, Royal Foundry Free

Two of the free ones, the Milestone near your house and the Inquisition base, unlock automatically through the story. You can only travel to a Milestone you have already activated, and the Town-side locations are the expensive ones because the northeastern region has to be fought open first.

Cheapest first is the standard advice. Crossroads and the Graveyard cost 1 Faith each and pay back immediately, while Quarry at 6 and Swamp at 8 are late-game buys. Prima Games warns against spending all your Faith on distant Milestones right away, because research and Inspirations draw on the same pool. The fast-travel Milestones guide lists the map positions.

How do Inspirations work, and how much Faith do they cost?

Inspirations replace GK1’s book-reading. There are 71 of them, each tracking one behaviour such as burying bodies or cutting marble plates. Hitting the goal lets you spend Faith to claim it, which fills one or two segments of that colour’s bar; a full bar becomes a single perk point.

Claiming is not the same as unlocking. 52 of the 71 Inspirations have a free level I claim, and the rest carry a yellow icon that marks a Faith cost. Every perk tree node then costs one inspiration point, so the real bill is spread across the five colours rather than paid up front. Claiming everything costs 551 Faith in Building, 1,728 in Smithing, 254 in Farming, 570 in Book writing and 1,232 in Anatomy.

Do you need Faith to unlock tech tree nodes?

No. Tech tree nodes are bought with red, green and blue research points, and Faith is a separate currency. What Faith gates is the speed at which you claim Inspirations, which feed perk trees — a different progression track from the research tree.

If a node is blocked, the usual cause is missing points, a character reputation gate, or a quest prerequisite rather than Faith. The point economy is broken down in tech points farming, and the branch layout is in the tech tree overview.

What else costs Faith?

Zombie collars and story objectives. The Jewelry Table makes Bronze, Golden and Steel Zombie Collars for 3, 5 and 10 Faith, and a resurrected zombie needs a collar that matches its red skull count. Herbert’s Fighting Spirit Required consumes 3 Faith, and charging the Hypno-device takes 1 Faith.

One further sink is reported but not confirmed. Several guides say researching some items and organs also charges Faith, while wikily.gg’s research section lists only Science as the cost. That claim is single-source and unverified, so do not budget Faith for research. The zombie side of the collar cost is in how to get zombie workers, and quest ordering is in the main quest order.
