Graveyard Keeper 2 Growth Elixirs and Fertilizers Guide
Weak, Rich and Miracle growth elixirs plus Dream Dust in Graveyard Keeper 2: exact Laboratory rune mixes and the Formulation Bench fertilizer assembly.
Which elixirs feed the fertilizer chain?
Four alchemy products, all brewed in Laboratory I from exact rune totals. The rune column is an exact target — one rune over or under and the lab produces nothing — and every ingredient must be researched once at the Study Table before its runes become visible.
| Elixir | Rune mix | Lab | Alchemist price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weak growth elixir | 1 red + 2 green | Laboratory I | From the start (base price 200 bronze) |
| Rich growth elixir | 1 red + 3 green | Laboratory I | Trader level 2 (base price 400 bronze) |
| Miracle growth elixir | 1 red + 5 green | Laboratory I | Trader level 3 (base price 1,500 bronze) |
| Dream Dust | 1 green + 1 blue | Laboratory I | From the start (base price 100 bronze) |
Single-colour filler carries most of these mixes: Clay, Flesh and Sand give one red each, Berry, Leaf and Stick give one green each, and Blueberry, Blood and Seed oil give one blue each. Every brew also consumes Alchemy Flasks plus Fuel. The full 28-formula list and the six recipes that need Laboratory II are in the alchemy recipes guide.
How do you make Peat?
Peat is the base fertilizer and the only one with a dedicated auto-crafting station — load leaves into the pile and it finishes on its own, with no alchemy brew and no Formulation Bench in the way. That makes it the cheapest input in the whole chain, and the reason every fertilizer tier above starts by doubling its Peat cost.
| Station | Recipe | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Compost Pile | 8 Leaf → 2 Peat | Entry station, tech Fertilizers I |
| Compost Pile II | 16 Leaf → 5 Peat | Better leaf-to-Peat ratio |
Neoseeker’s technology page places the entry at Fertilizers I (10 green points, Gardening), granting the Peat recipe, the Crop Boosting Fertilizer I recipe and the Compost Pile build option. Application is per-plot and pre-growth: one item per application through the plot’s fertilizer slot before growth begins.
What does each elixir assemble into?
At the Formulation Bench — an Anatomy workbench present in both the Alchemy Lab and the Writing Basement — each assembly outputs two fertilizer items per craft, and the Peat cost doubles with every tier. Six of its 36 recipes consume these four elixirs directly.
| Assembly | Inputs | Output | Ticks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Headstart Fertilizer I | 2 Peat + 1 Weak growth elixir | 2 Headstart Fertilizer I | 3 |
| Farming Fertilizer I | 2 Peat + 1 Weak growth elixir | 2 Farming Fertilizer I | 3 |
| Headstart Fertilizer II | 4 Peat + 1 Rich growth elixir | 2 Headstart Fertilizer II | 4 |
| Farming Fertilizer II | 4 Peat + 1 Rich growth elixir | 2 Farming Fertilizer II | 4 |
| Crop Boosting Fertilizer I | 2 Peat + 1 Dream Dust | 2 Crop Boosting Fertilizer I | 3 |
| Farming Fertilizer III | 8 Peat + 1 Miracle growth elixir | 2 Farming Fertilizer III | 6 |
If you are coming from the first game, reset your vocabulary: this game splits the old quality and boost pair into Headstart, Crop Boosting and Farming Fertilizer tiers on different stations. Recipes naming the Church workbench or quality fertilizer with roman numerals belong to the first game, not this one. The garden side — application timing and the Peat-first opening — is in the fertilizer guide.
Read the Peat column as the real budget line. Tier I assemblies ask for 2 Peat, tier II for 4, and Farming Fertilizer III for 8, so the top-tier craft costs four times the Peat of the bottom one while yielding the same two items per run. Peat is the constraint you can solve passively with a compost pile, and the elixirs are the constraint you cannot — they need lab time, Science and a trader unlock. The rich growth elixir recipe page works through the Rich tier’s own mixing math and technology path in detail, and dream dust recipe does the same for the blue-and-green mix.
What else is Dream Dust used for?
Three consumers beyond Crop Boosting Fertilizer I, which makes Dream Dust the busiest of the four inputs. It is also the cheapest of the four at 100 bronze base price, so it is the one to brew first and the one most likely to end up in surplus.
| Use | Recipe or context |
|---|---|
| Crop Boosting Fertilizer I | 2 Peat + 1 Dream Dust at the Formulation Bench |
| Fancy Incense | 1 Melted Fat + 1 Fragrance + 1 Dream Dust at the Formulation Bench |
| Summon Fairy | 1 Dream Dust + 1 Comet’s Tail + 1 Tooth at the Kitchen Table |
| Sweet Dreams quest | Carried for the Plague Doctor’s questline |
Gunter sells Comet’s Tail from the start, which pairs with Dream Dust for the fairy summon on the main quest order path through Dream Dust and the hidden Alchemy Lab.
What does Organ Improver do at the Formulation Bench?
Organ Improver is the alchemy formula that upgrades corpse parts to gold quality, and the Formulation Bench is where the upgrade runs. The formula itself brews in Laboratory I two ways: 4 red plus 1 green for the red-skull version, or 4 green for the white-skull version, and the Alchemist buys it from trader level 2.
| Upgrade | Inputs | Ticks |
|---|---|---|
| Skin (gold) | Any Skin + 1 Organ Improver | 6 |
| Bones (gold) | Any Bones + 1 Organ Improver | 6 |
| Skull (gold) | Any Skull + 1 Organ Improver | 6 |
| Heart (gold) | Any Heart + 1 Organ Improver | 8 |
| Brain (gold) | Any Brain + 1 Organ Improver | 8 |
| Guts (gold) | Any Guts + 1 Organ Improver | 8 |
Only gold-quality Heart, Brain and Guts carry alchemy runes, so the item quality tiers change what a body part contributes to future mixes. The bench catalogue is in the crafting station list, and corpse handling around it is in the zombie production line.
